Robert Loidl prepares for the longest race in his career:
Race Around Austria – 1500

The Bad Ischl endurance athlete Robert Loidl made use oft he perfect winter conditions in his home town. Daily bread were basic units on touring skis and on his ergometer. Then he went for the annual „mile-gobbling“ trip to Mallorca for 11 days in the middle of March.  Well prepared, Robert started his racing season in April already. He had his „kick-off“ at „Citybike-Marathon“ in Munich. 80km through and around Munich, one week later Robert used an extended weekend at Lake Garda for technical training units and did „MTB Marathon Garda“ here. „Amadé Bike Marathon“ in the middle of May in Salzburg was Robert’s first form test with the racing bike.
Feeling very well and in good form Robert travelled to Weilheim the end of May. The „12h MTB World Championship“ was one of the three targets for this season – but, after only 90 minutes a technical defect forced Robert off his bike. The temporary repair unfortunately held out for 7 hours only, and Robert had to accept that the race was over for good.

Another endurance test for cyclist and material took place last week. The man from Bad Ischl took the racing bike and cycled around the federal state of Salzburg in three stages, fighting the worst of conditions.

Now he is fully focused on the upcoming races: „I have gone through a good preparation phase, I feel at my best and I am looking foreard tot he races at home. For the 4th time I will tackel the 211 km (once to hell an back) at Salzkammergut Mountainbike Trophy on 11th of July. But, my most important target for 2015 will be the „Race around Austria 1500“ in August with 1500 kilometers in one stretch and 17.500 cumulative elevation. I am in the middle of the preparation phase for this event."
